Re-burning a Network Hardware Lock

If you have a network hardware lock and you have recently purchased some new modules or have increased your user count, you need to burn the new information into the hardware lock.

The lock burn has to be done on the computer that has the lock physically plugged into it. It cannot be done via a remote desktop program as it looks for the lock on the local ports. If you have moved the lock from another computer for this operation, you will need to first have the lock driver installed before you insert the lock. You can click here to obtain the driver.

  1. Ensure that no one is using a SPACE GASS licence attached to the lock about to be burned.

  2. Click here to download the SPACE GASS Lock tool (called LockTool.exe) and save it into a temporary folder or onto your desktop.

  3. Save the LockData.dat file (attached to the lock burn email you received) into the same temporary folder as the lock tool.

  4. Run LockTool.exe, enter the lock number and click the "Burn" button (this can take up to 60 seconds to complete).

  5. The lock tool will display the contents of your lock. You will then need to restart the lock service program on the computer that has the lock for these new settings to take effect. You can restart the service via your Start Button => Control Panel => Administrative Tools => Services and then right-click on the "Sentinel Protection Installer" service and select "Start".

  6. The next time you run SPACE GASS it will recognise the registration changes.
