Type choices are "N"=Normal, "T"=Tension-only, "C"=Compression-only, "A"=Cable, "G"=Gap, "B"=Brittle fuse or "P"=Plastic fuse.

 

Fa, Fb choices are "F"=Fixed, "R"=Released or "S"=Spring. "S" can only be used for the x translation, y rotation or z rotation fixities (ie. the 1st, 5th and 6th positions in the fixity codes). For each "S" code a matching stiffness must also be provided.

 

TensLimit and CompLimit are lengths for gap members or forces for fuse members. For further information on gap and fuse members, refer to "Gap and fuse members".

 

If there are no gap, fuse or link members, or members with axial spring fixities then the format reverts back to the following simplified form:
