This tool can be used to select connected plates that have similar properties and are in the same plane within a specified angle tolerance.
There are multiple ways to use the advanced plate selection tool. You
can select a plate, then right-click and select "Advanced Plate Selection".
Alternatively, you can set the plate selection method to "Advanced
Plate Selection" by clicking the toolbar button,
then any time you select a plate it will use the advanced plate selection
tool to select connected plates that meet the selection preferences.
Once plates are selected, the unselected plates that share a common edge with the selected plates are checked to see if they pass the advanced plate selection criteria. Any plate that passes is added to the plate selection. The number of selected plates grows until it cannot find any more plates that pass the selection criteria.
The selection criteria can
be changed by clicking the
toolbar button, then select "Advanced Plate Selection Preferences".
The "Angle Tolerance" input defines the out-of-plane tolerance between plates sharing a common edge. Any plate that exceeds this threshold will not be added to the plate selection.
The "Same Loads in Load Cases" input adds plate loads to the selection criteria.
If "Current selected load cases" input adds the load case selected in the renderer to the selection criteria. All other load cases are not included. Alternatively, "Load case list" allows users to specify the exact load cases to include in the selection criteria.
Only load cases can be included in the selection criteria, load combinations cannot be included in the selection criteria.
